Growing New Haven's Economy | Development Environment & Projects


360 State Street (Projects in Construction)

This 1.5 acre parcel located at State and Chapel Streets in downtown, development represents the largest private investment in downtown New Haven in the last few decades ($180 million). Positioned in the central business district, the project will aim at intensifying mix-use and will include the following components: 700,000 SF project with 500 new residential housing units with amenities including a swimming pool and fitness area, a courtyard terrace, and views to the Long Island Sound; 50 affordable residential units; an urban grocery store, 500 parking spaces; green, sustainable building design LEED Silver a 7,200 square feet early childhood center which would serve about 100 children. This project is being developed by Becker + Becker and is fully funded. Project commenced construction in September 2008 and is on schedule to be completed by September 2010. The number of jobs created by this project will be 1,600 union construction jobs and 200 new permanent jobs.
